Council of Ministers Approves Key Decisions Including Establishment of National Mobile Phone Company


Baghdad: The Council of Ministers held its regular session today, Tuesday, under the leadership of Council Chairman Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and issued several significant decisions. These include the establishment of the National Mobile Phone Company and the ratification of an air services agreement between Iraq and Jordan.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Media Office highlighted that the session encompassed discussions on the country’s developments and the implementation of the government program. The session also involved deliberations on the agenda topics and resulted in issuing the necessary decisions.



The statement further elaborated that as part of efforts to enhance the communications sector, increase revenues, and execute the government program’s decisions, the Council of Ministers approved the establishment of the National Mobile Phone Company. This company is set to operate the national license for fifth-generation technology in collaboration with Vodafone International Telecommunications Company.



In the realm of foreign relations, the Council of Ministers sanctioned the execution of a memorandum of understanding for mutual exemption from entry visas for holders of diplomatic passports between Iraq and Morocco. Additionally, the Council approved the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ recommendation to open a consulate general for India in the province of Najaf.



The Council of Ministers also sanctioned the draft law ratifying an agreement on air services between the governments of Iraq and Jordan, forwarding it to the House of Representatives in accordance with the constitution.
