Council of Ministers Approves Key Initiatives Including Anti-Money Laundering Report

Baghdad: The Council of Ministers has officially approved the annual report of the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Council for the year 2024. This decision was made during a session held today, showcasing the government's commitment to tackling money laundering and terrorism financing.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Council of Ministers also made several other significant decisions. Among these is the approval to hold an international conference focused on Al-Hol camp, with funding to be allocated by the National Security Advisory. This move highlights the ongoing focus on addressing issues related to the camp.

Additionally, the Council decided to increase the budget for the project aimed at establishing a seawater desalination plant in Basra Governorate. The Ministry of Finance has been directed to include this project in the governorate's 2025 plan, indicating a commitment to improving water resources in the region.

In a gesture of support for vulnerable populations, the Council approved the disbursement of an Eid gift amounting to 100,000 dinars to 5,832 orphans who have lost both parents and are currently receiving social assistance. This initiative comes in light of the approaching Eid al-Adha, aiming to provide some relief and support to these orphans during the festive period.
