Baghdad: The Council of Ministers has given the green light to recommendations aimed at the rehabilitation of Baghdad International Airport. This decision follows the review of the minutes from the Diwani Order Committee meeting (No. 251294 of 2025).

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the recommendations involve the approval of technical and legal qualifications submitted by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), adhering to standards established by the IFC. The Council has also sanctioned the procedures for the project's second phase, which includes the submission of commercial bids. This decision is based on the IFC's analysis of the technical bids and legal conditions. Additionally, the Council has approved several exceptions to streamline the work of all committees and procedures associated with the project, with implementation commencing from the date of the approval order and a 2023 contract with the IFC.

Furthermore, in its session held today, the Council of Ministers also approved the Ministry of Oil's engagement with relevant entities regarding the fixed platform project for importing liquefied natural gas (LNG). The outcomes of these negotiations are to be presented to the Central Referral Committee at the Ministry of Oil, as a preparatory step before being submitted to the Council of Ministers for evaluation, allowing for exceptions to the standard documentation system.
