Baghdad: With official documentation, the Court of Cassation upholds the verdict against former MP Mohammed Al-Karbouli, making it final. The decision marks a significant development in the case against the former lawmaker, reinforcing the previous ruling without room for further appeal.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Federal Integrity Commission announced on July 16th that a verdict of imprisonment had been issued against current Member of Parliament Mohammed Nasser Dali al-Karbouli. He was convicted of soliciting money in exchange for interfering in a public official matter. The Commission detailed that the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court had sentenced him to two years in prison and imposed a fine of ten million dinars. This penalty was for his demand of $50,000 to intervene in the closure of investigative committees against the complainant in the First Karkh Education Directorate, allowing the complainant to retain his position as a school principal.
