Crews of Two Military Aircraft Survive After Collision in Eastern France

Saint-Dizier: French authorities announced on Tuesday that the crew members of two French military aerobatic patrol aircraft had been found after a collision while flying over eastern France. The French Air and Space Force stated in a statement that the accident occurred near an air base, where the two pilots and a third passenger were able to activate the ejection function and were found alive. Two of them were taken to the hospital, and the third is under military care.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Mayor of Saint-Dizier, Quentin Briard, explained that the two aircraft were part of a seven-aircraft French aerobatic patrol formation when one of them collided with the other. He indicated that one of the aircraft crashed into a warehouse, while the other crashed into a tree-covered area and swamps. Authorities confirmed that there were no other casualties.

This type of accident is rare. 2019 saw a similar incident with no injuries, while a pilot died in 2022 after his parachute failed to open during a training flight.
