Rabia: The General Authority of Customs has announced the entry of the first transit shipment under the TIR system through the Rabia border crossing, marking a significant development in regional trade corridors. Thamer Qasim Dawood, the Director of the Authority, emphasized the importance of this shipment, which originated from the Syrian Arab Republic and is headed towards Kuwait.
According to Iraqi News Agency, Dawood stated that this event is a milestone in advancing the international transport and transit sector. It demonstrates the continuous success of the General Authority of Customs in implementing international agreements and enhancing Iraq's role in regional and international trade.
The authority highlighted that this accomplishment showcases the readiness of Iraqi border crossings to handle transit operations using internationally approved systems and standards. The adoption of modern tracking systems, such as GPS, ensures high levels of control and efficiency, facilitating smooth movement and transfer of goods across Iraqi territory.
Efforts are underway to further develop the customs work environment and expand the use of the TIR system. This aligns with the government's directives to bolster trade relations with regional countries and transform Iraq into a pivotal economic corridor connecting markets on both a regional and international scale.
