Umm qasr: The General Authority of Customs has announced the seizure of two containers at the Umm Qasr Central Customs Center, which were found to be carrying materials in violation of import regulations and instructions.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the first container held iron parts intended for transmission line towers, stored inside 33 wooden boxes, with a total weight of approximately one ton.
The statement from the Authority further revealed that the manifest for the second container claimed it contained basic metal brackets, fittings, and similar products. However, upon inspection, it was discovered to be filled with household items and used electrical appliances, collectively weighing around 10 tons.
The Authority emphasized that these actions were taken as part of efforts to enforce applicable laws and instructions, aiming to protect public funds and regulate the movement of goods within ports. Importers are urged to comply with the established regulations and instructions to avoid such violations.
