Deputy Speaker Demands Urgent Action Against Airspace Violations

Baghdad: Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mohsen al-Mandalawi emphasized that Iraq’s sovereignty is paramount, declaring that the nation will no longer tolerate violations of its airspace or territorial encroachments.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Mandalawi urged the Parliament Presidency to convene an urgent extraordinary session. This session would focus on the dangerous military escalation in the region and the Zionist aggression targeting Iranian territory via Iraqi airspace. Al-Mandalawi described these actions as blatant violations of national sovereignty and direct threats to Iraq’s security and stability.

Al-Mandalawi underscored that such transgressions are unacceptable, warning that using Iraqi airspace for aggressive acts against neighboring countries sets a perilous precedent. This, he argued, risks involving Iraq in regional conflicts that do not align with its commitment to peace and security in the region.

Reaffirming the House of Representatives’ firm stance, al-Mandalawi rejected any notion of Iraq being used as a battleground for external conflicts or as a means for aggression. He stressed that Iraqi sovereignty is inviolable and that national security must remain a top priority. He also expressed solidarity with Iran in facing this aggression and extended condolences to the families affected by the attacks.

Concluding his statement, al-Mandalawi called on the Iraqi government, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense, and other relevant authorities to intensify diplomatic and legal efforts. This includes pursuing actions regarding the official complaint filed with the Security Council against the Zionist entity, aiming to uphold the state’s dignity and protect national sovereignty.
