Baghdad: The Federal Commission of Integrity has announced the arrest of the Director of Civil Defense in Wasit Province, along with several officers and employees from both the Civil Defense Directorate and the Kut Municipality, in connection with the recent fire at the “Kut Hypermarket” center.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Commission’s investigation team in Wasit executed arrest and search warrants issued by the Integrity Court in the province. These warrants targeted the Civil Defense Director, two officers, and a member of the directorate, charging them with negligence and violations that allegedly contributed to the fire incident.

The Commission’s statement further detailed the execution of arrest warrants against three officials from the Kut Municipality. These arrests are linked to violations concerning the property where the fire occurred. The judicial orders were issued under Article (3/343) of the Penal Code, following the Commission’s extensive investigation and evidence collection.

Earlier, the Commission had announced the arrest of three municipal officials in Kut for their involvement in the violations that reportedly led to the fire outbreak.
