Diwaniyah: The Diwaniyah Agriculture Directorate has highlighted the critical need for financial allocations to propel the province towards becoming Iraq’s agricultural capital. The initiative aims to enhance local agricultural production, thereby reinforcing the country’s food security.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Haider Al-Mahna, the Director of Agriculture in Diwaniyah Governorate, underscored the necessity of funding for farmers and agricultural workers to advance the sector. Al-Mahna emphasized that such financial support is pivotal in the broader context of the Diwaniyah, the agricultural capital of Iraq project.
Al-Mahna warned that the migration of farmers from rural areas to urban centers poses a threat to food security. He advocated for bolstering the agricultural sector and creating conducive conditions for rural stability to counter this trend.
He further stated that Diwaniyah, with its abundant agricultural resources, has the potential to secure the nation’s food supply and emerge as Iraq’s breadbasket.
