Baghdad: The Diyala Health Department has initiated a comprehensive health emergency plan to ensure medical support for pilgrims visiting the holy shrines. The plan aims to enhance health preparedness along the main roads and routes that pilgrims use while traveling towards Baghdad and the holy provinces.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Haydar al-Makdami, the Director General of Diyala Health, stated that the plan involves deploying 22 medical teams and 40 ambulances along the pilgrims’ routes. These teams will provide continuous health and emergency services and respond swiftly to any emergencies. All medical teams have been equipped with medicines, medical supplies, and necessary treatments to offer optimal health services to the pilgrims.

Al-Makdami further explained that the health plan includes dispatching a mobile medical clinic, equipped with a refrigeration system for medicine preservation, to the holy city of Karbala. This clinic is staffed by a team of 13 doctors, along with other medical, nursing, and laboratory personnel, to bolster the health services available to pilgrims during the pilgrimage. He highlighted the increased preparedness in hospitals, emergency departments, and support wards, and the deployment of all human and logistical resources to ensure the success of the health plan for the Arba’een pilgrimage.
