Diyala: Security forces have successfully apprehended three men who were convicted of murdering several civilians in a village within the Diyala province. The arrests come four years after the suspects fled the crime scene, with the operation being carried out in a central Euphrates province.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the arrests were made possible through precise intelligence work which enabled security forces to locate and capture the fugitives. The suspects had previously evaded justice by moving to another province. They are now set to be transferred to Baquba, where arrest warrants had been issued against them.

The incident traces back to an attack on February 20th in the village of Al-Jayaila, near the Al-Khalis district. The attack involved a group of gunmen targeting civilians working on a farm close to the border of Al-Bu Bali village, leading to 11 casualties, including both deaths and injuries. Security forces have attributed the incident to longstanding tribal disputes, which had escalated into violence.

The successful arrests mark a significant development in the ongoing efforts to address unresolved crimes stemming from tribal conflicts within the region.
