Diyala: Diyala Police Commander, Major General Mohammed Kadhim Attia, announced the arrest of a suspect who burned his wife to death, in a horrific crime that took place in one of the governorate’s areas.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Attia stated, “The accused (A.L.D.) was arrested under Article 405 of the Penal Code after he set his wife on fire inside their home following a family dispute, which resulted in her death from her severe injuries.”

He added, “A joint security team from the Anti-Crime Directorate and the Hibhib Police Department was able to uncover the circumstances of the incident and arrest the perpetrator simultaneously with the crime,” stressing that “all necessary legal measures will be taken against the accused.”
