Baghdad: The Ministry of Health announced today the signing of a memorandum of understanding with European companies to establish an insulin production plant in Nineveh Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Managing Director of Al-Zarqa Pharmaceutical Industries Company, Abdullah Mohammed, stated that a memorandum of understanding was signed with a German company and the Dutch company Byton. Byton is recognized as one of the four leading companies in the world for insulin production.

Mohammed explained that the memorandum includes the setup of an insulin production facility within Iraq. He confirmed that the plant’s location will be in Nineveh Governorate and that the land for the construction has been allocated. He further mentioned that the memorandum of understanding has been signed and that the project is moving forward with the contractual procedures.
