Educational Cadres in Wasit and Maysan Announce End of Strike and Return to Work Tomorrow

Wasit: Educational cadres in the Maysan Governorate have announced the suspension of their strike, with a return to official attendance in all schools set for tomorrow.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Coordination Committee of Educational Cadres, Employees, and Administrators in Maysan made the announcement following sessions of the House of Representatives and the Council of Ministers. These sessions resulted in decisions including the amendment of the Ministry of Education Law, which requires time for full implementation. The committee has decided to grant time to both the executive and legislative branches to implement these decisions.

The Coordination Committee stated that after communicating with other governorates that have also suspended their strikes, they decided to follow suit. The committee emphasized that this move is a temporary grace period for the authorities. Should their demands not be met, they plan to resume the strike with larger demonstrations by educators.

The Maysan Governorate, along with several other Iraqi governorates, had seen a widespread strike involving educational cadres, employees, and administrators in the education sector. The strike was a protest against delays in implementing demands aimed at improving living and professional conditions, including the stabilization of contracts and the disbursement of financial dues.
