Cairo:The Egyptian House of Representatives has authorized President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to take necessary defensive measures in coordination with Saudi Arabia to defend its territory. This mandate was approved during a third closed-door session presided over by Counselor Hisham Badawi and supported by a two-thirds majority of the House members.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, President el-Sisi had requested this parliamentary mandate to support Saudi Arabia. The House had previously conducted two sessions last week, during which representatives across the political spectrum were heard.
The House of Representatives conducted a roll-call vote on the resolution, adhering to constitutional requirements. This process mandates a two-thirds majority approval of House members before deploying armed forces on combat missions outside Egypt’s borders, following consultation with the National Defense Council.
