Dubai: In the presence of the President of the Arab Journalists Federation, Muayyad Al-Lami, and a group of journalists from around the world, the Emirates Journalists Association is organizing a celebration on the occasion of its silver jubilee, from January 12 to 16, 2025 in Dubai. The event will witness the attendance of delegations and officials from the International Federation of Journalists, Arab and Gulf Journalists Unions, the West Asia and Pacific Journalists Union, and the African Journalists Union.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, on the sidelines of the celebration held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the founding of the association, which began its work on January 27, 2000, a meeting of the Permanent Office of the General Federation of Arab Journalists will be held, which is considered the most prominent entity for journalists in the Arab world, and includes the heads of unions, federations, and journalistic associations. In conjunction with the association’s celebrations, th
e third meeting of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Journalists Union and the first General Assembly meeting of the Gulf Journalists Union will be held in Dubai.
Fadhila Al-Muaini, President of the Emirates Journalists Association, stated that the celebration will bring together representatives from prestigious press bodies at the Gulf, Arab, and international levels, with the participation of more than 200 journalists and officials. The event will include honoring the icons and pioneers of journalism locally and regionally, reflecting the prominent position of the association and its national, regional, and international role over the past 25 years. Al-Muaini expressed gratitude to the relevant authorities for facilitating the procedures for the state’s guests, and for receiving a delegation from the International Federation of Journalists headed by Dominique Bradley, the Arab Journalists Federation headed by Muayyad Al Lami, the Gulf Journalists Union headed by Issa Al Shaiji, and the West Asia and Pacif
ic Journalists Union headed by Sabina Indergate.
The celebration program will include organizing a number of dialogue sessions and specialized research seminars on the ethical responsibilities of the media in the digital age, with a focus on the balance between freedom of expression and media professionalism, in addition to discussing the most prominent challenges facing the media sector. In this context, Fadhila Al-Muaini emphasized that the message of the Emirates Journalists Association stems from a firm commitment to freedom and expression of opinion. The association is considered a major platform for supporting positive work and enhancing the national achievements of the UAE, by providing a free platform for exchanging ideas and visions, and contributing to building an integrated media community that works to spread awareness and promote constructive dialogue, and enable journalists to perform their role as protectors of the truth and a voice for society, which contributes to enhancing human and profess
ional values in the media arena.
