End of German Forces’ Mission in Iraq


Erbil: An official ceremony marking the end of the German forces’ mission in Iraq as part of the international coalition was held in Erbil on Tuesday. The ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, and the Minister of Peshmerga Affairs, Shorsh Ismail, to bid farewell to the German forces and conclude their mission.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, this withdrawal is part of a broader plan to gradually end the international coalition’s mission in Iraq and move towards bilateral security cooperation. The German force’s military commander, Colonel Thorsten Piecha, expressed his gratitude for the support and assistance provided by the relevant authorities in the Kurdistan Region during the past period, particularly in coordinating their forces and achieving victory over ISIS terrorists.
