Erdogan Criticizes Israel’s Policies at ECO Summit

Khankandi: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed strong criticism of Israel’s policies, stating that the aggressive approaches under Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government threaten regional peace and stability. Speaking at the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit in Khankandi, Azerbaijan, Erdogan emphasized Turkey’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and condemned actions that have exacerbated tensions in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan highlighted that Israeli military actions in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran are part of a broader strategy to suppress Palestinian aspirations. He appealed for international unity to halt the violence in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of approximately 57,000 Palestinians. Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to advocating for the oppressed and voiced concerns over the potential for further regional instability.

Erdogan also addressed environmental issues, urging ECO member states to align their development strategies with climate change mitigation efforts. Turkey now ranks fifth in Europe and eleventh globally in renewable energy production.

The Turkish President also discussed Turkey’s Zero Waste Project, projecting a reduction of 100 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030. Since 2017, the project has reportedly cut greenhouse gas emissions by 6 million tons.
