Istanbul: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed criticism toward Western governments for their silence regarding the crimes committed against children in Gaza. Erdogan highlighted what he views as a stark contrast between Western countries' promotion of human rights and their silence in the face of alleged genocide in Gaza by Israel.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan, speaking at an iftar banquet in Istanbul, accused the Israeli administration of violating a ceasefire and resuming attacks in Gaza. He stated that the Turkish government plans to increase efforts to halt what he described as genocide in Gaza before the upcoming Eid al-Fitr.
Erdogan reported that more than 700 Palestinians have died during the month of Ramadan due to Israeli military actions. He criticized the global community, especially Western governments, for their indifference to the violence occurring in Gaza.
The Turkish president further commented on the perceived double standards in global discourse about human rights and discrimination, particularly when the victims are Palestinians and the perpetrators are Israeli. He expressed optimism that the injustices faced by Palestinians in Gaza will eventually be resolved, drawing a parallel with the situation in Syria.
