Brussels: The European Commission welcomed US President Donald Trump’s announcement on Thursday to suspend tariffs. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressed support for the decision, emphasizing the importance of clear and predictable conditions for trade and supply chains.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, von der Leyen stated in a message on the X platform that tariffs act as taxes that negatively impact businesses and consumers. She reiterated her call for a tariff-free agreement between the European Union and the United States, highlighting the benefits such an arrangement would have on both economies.
