Baghdad: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan, has underscored the importance of justice for the district of Dujail, emphasizing the need to fulfill its entitlements.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the media office of the First Deputy Speaker released a statement indicating that Adnan Faihan hosted tribal leaders and dignitaries from Dujail, along with officials from its service departments. The meeting, held in Faihan’s office, was attended by the Minister of Water Resources, Muthanna al-Tamimi, and the representative for Salah al-Din Governorate, Muhammad al-Baldawi. They discussed pressing issues and challenges in the service sectors of water, health, electricity, agriculture, and infrastructure affecting the district.
Faihan highlighted the sacrifices made by the people of Al-Dujail district in their fight against terrorism and in defending Iraq’s holy sites. He noted that the marginalization faced by the district necessitates a serious approach to ensure justice and restore its developmental and service rights. He affirmed that Parliament will maintain its oversight role to guarantee the judiciary receives its entitlements.
The press release detailed plans to host the Director of the Fund for the Reconstruction of Affected Areas, the Governor of Salah al-Din, and relevant authorities to discuss stabilization projects. This review will occur within committees focused on regions and governorates, planning, government program, and parliamentary endowments, with a commitment to follow up on all issues with the relevant executive authorities to achieve practical solutions within defined timeframes.
The meeting also included a thorough examination of the district’s urgent service needs, particularly the reduction in water supply from the Al-Ishaqi project. The Minister of Water Resources assured an increase in water releases and announced a forthcoming field visit to the district. Discussions extended to challenges in the municipal, sewage, health, electricity, agriculture, and infrastructure sectors, emphasizing the need for integrated efforts to expedite project implementation and address citizens’ needs.
The tribal leaders and dignitaries of Al-Dujail expressed their gratitude to the First Deputy Speaker for his dedication to addressing the judiciary’s concerns and needs, and for his prompt resolution of several issues raised during the meeting.
