Farmers Protest Shuts Down Al-Ahdab Oil Field in Response to Rising Kerosene Prices

Kut: Farmers closed the Al-Ahdab oil field in Kut today in protest against the increase in kerosene prices. The demonstration highlighted the growing discontent among the agricultural community, as farmers demand immediate action to address their grievances.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the farmers are not only protesting the surge in fuel prices but are also calling for the disbursement of their overdue payments and an expansion of the agricultural plan. They argue that the rising cost of kerosene adds significant pressure to their agricultural activities, which are already facing numerous challenges.

This protest is part of a series of demonstrations occurring in strategic locations such as the Al-Ahdab oil field, the Kut oil depot, and the districts of Sheikh Saad and Al-Zubaidiya. The repeated protests underscore the urgency of the situation and the farmers’ determination to seek redress for their issues.
