Farms Between Kirkuk and Erbil Identified as Terrorist and Criminal Hideouts

Kirkuk: The head of the Turkmen bloc in the Iraqi Parliament, MP Arshad al-Salihi, has raised alarms over the increasing use of farms located between Kirkuk and Erbil as bases for terrorism, organized crime, and drug smuggling.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Salihi highlighted the issue in a recent tweet, emphasizing the transformation of these agricultural areas into operational hubs for illicit activities. His statement comes in the context of an ongoing security operation by the Counter-Terrorism Service in the Altun Kupri district. The operation, aimed at tackling remnants of ISIS, has witnessed a tragic loss of one officer while successfully neutralizing a terrorist.

The revelation about the farms' use for such activities points to a growing concern about regional security and the challenges faced by Iraqi authorities in combating terrorism and crime. The ongoing operation underscores the efforts being made to restore safety and stability in the region.
