First Deputy Speaker Confirms No Rejection from Factions on Weapons Regulation


Baghdad: First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Adnan Faihan affirmed the continuation of political efforts to reach understandings regarding the issue of restricting and regulating weapons, noting that there is no refusal from the factions to engage with the government on this matter.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Faihan stated, “There are efforts underway to reach sound understandings that guarantee the achievement of important goals for Iraq’s sovereignty.” He added, “Meetings and discussions are ongoing daily between all concerned parties, and the coordination framework is playing its role in these dialogues,” indicating that “matters are progressing towards reaching a memorandum of understanding among the factions regarding their role in the process of regulating weapons under the command of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.”



He clarified, “There is no refusal from the factions, and there will be no refusal to accept weapons that will be regulated under the command of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.”
