Munich: Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein discussed with his Azerbaijani counterpart, today, Saturday, the reactivation of the flight line between Baghdad and Baku, while calling on Azerbaijani companies specialized in the field of oil and gas to invest in Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Foreign Ministry revealed that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in the German city of Munich. The meeting highlighted the appreciation of both sides for the bilateral relations between Iraq and Azerbaijan, emphasizing the cultural commonalities which enhance cooperation across various fields.

Hussein advocated for the reactivation of the flight line between Baghdad and Baku and proposed the establishment of a new air line between Baku and Erbil, aiming to bolster economic relations, particularly in the tourism sector. He also extended an invitation to Azerbaijani companies in the oil and gas sector to consider investing in Iraq, pointing out the numerous promising opportunities available in this field.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister expressed interest in the investment opportunities within Iraq, indicating the potential for an in-depth discussion on the matter during his forthcoming visit to Baghdad. The meeting also addressed events related to the Munich Security Conference. The Iraqi Foreign Minister extended an official invitation for his Azerbaijani counterpart to visit Iraq to further discuss investment prospects and strengthen economic ties. The Azerbaijani Minister welcomed the invitation and indicated his intention to potentially make the visit after the month of Ramadan.
