Foreign Minister and European Investment Bank Vice President Discuss Expansion of Development and Investment Partnerships

Luxembourg: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein engaged in discussions with Gelsomina Veliotti, Vice President of the European Investment Bank, regarding the expansion of partnership prospects in development and investment sectors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement indicating that the meeting took place at the European Investment Bank's headquarters in Luxembourg. The discussions centered on enhancing economic cooperation between Iraq and the European Investment Bank, with a focus on expanding partnership prospects in development and investment areas.

The Ministry's statement highlighted that the meeting also covered developments in the global economic situation and their impacts on the region. Emphasis was placed on the economic situation in Iraq and the Iraqi government's priorities, which include advancing the financial and economic sectors, empowering the private sector, and reducing reliance on the public sector.

During the meeting, Hussein emphasized Iraq's commitment to strengthening cooperation with international financial institutions, especially the European Investment Bank. He pointed out that such collaboration is crucial for supporting vital projects, developing infrastructure, and stimulating investment in Iraq. He also noted the importance of swiftly completing the requirements for signing the framework agreement to implement joint cooperation.

Veliotti affirmed the European Investment Bank's readiness to provide support, technical advice, and financing for projects that contribute to sustainable development in Iraq. She also highlighted the bank's commitment to enhancing Iraq's economic stability following the signing of the framework agreement.
