Foreign Minister Discusses Regional Developments with His Azerbaijani Counterpart

Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed regional developments in a phone call today, Sunday, with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release, “During the call, the current situation was assessed in light of the repercussions of the war on the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly given the geographical proximity of Iraq and Azerbaijan to Iran, and the resulting shared responsibilities in monitoring regional developments.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the two sides discussed the dangers of the continued military operations against Iran and their potential negative impact on the security and stability of neighboring countries and the entire region, warning of the risks of the war expanding and escalating.

The two Ministers emphasized the importance of joint action, in coordination with relevant countries, to end the war and adopt diplomatic means as the path to a solution, thereby contributing to de-escalation and strengthening regional stability.

The two sides agreed to continue communication and consultations to formulate a common position with other countries regarding current developments.
