Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Discusses Iraqi Oil Pipeline Project with Syrian President

Baghdad: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein confirmed on Monday that he held talks with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, covering several issues, most notably the project to extend an Iraqi oil pipeline across Syrian territory.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Hussein stated that the visit included bilateral meetings with the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Energy. The discussions were aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Syria, focusing on economic cooperation, particularly the construction of an Iraqi oil pipeline through Syria.

Hussein emphasized that the talks primarily revolved around extending oil pipelines to the Banias refinery. He explained that discussions were held with the Syrian government regarding this project, which will involve foreign companies and expert coordination from both the Iraqi and Syrian sides. Additionally, the meetings addressed joint security and agricultural matters, signaling a comprehensive approach to enhancing cooperation between the two nations.
