Foreign Minister Stresses Efforts for Successful Arab Summit in Baghdad

Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein emphasized the importance of ensuring that the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad reflects Iraq's pivotal role in the region. He urged the need for enhanced efforts to guarantee the success of this significant Arab event.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fuad Hussein chaired the 16th meeting of the Special Committee for Preparations for the Arab Summit, which is scheduled to take place on May 17 in Baghdad. The meeting involved a comprehensive review and discussion of the ongoing preparations for the summit, covering various administrative, technical, political, security, and media aspects. The goal is to organize a successful summit that mirrors Iraq's regional and diplomatic standing. The discussions included logistical measures for receiving official delegations and heads of state, emphasizing the importance of coordination among relevant authorities.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, such as Minister of Planning Mohammed Tamim, Minister of Interior Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, Minister of Commerce Athir Al-Ghariri, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Hamid Al-Ghazi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom, and Undersecretary of the Ministry for Administrative and Technical Affairs Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi, along with representatives from relevant government agencies. The attendees discussed media arrangements for summit coverage and the facilitation of work for journalists and media outlets from local, Arab, and international spheres. Security aspects and enhanced coordination among security agencies were also key topics of discussion during the meeting.
