Baghdad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the completion of the essential requirements for holding the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states, scheduled to take place in Baghdad next month.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the Undersecretary for Multilateral and Legal Affairs, Ambassador Shorsh Khalid Saeed, chaired a meeting via video conference. The meeting was attended by the Head of the Protocol Department, Ambassador Mohammed Hisham; Iraq’s Representative to the OIC, Ambassador Mawloud Mukhlis; the OIC Deputy Secretary-General; several OIC officials; and the Director of the OIC office in Baghdad, Ambassador Mohammed Samir Al-Naqshbandi.

The statement added that the meeting focused on discussing technical and logistical preparations for the 52nd session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, scheduled to be held in the capital, Baghdad, on October 17 and 18, 2026.

The Undersecretary affirmed that Iraq has completed most of the essential requirements for hosting the session, praising the pivotal role played by the OIC in providing support to ensure the success of this event, thereby reflecting Baghdad’s status as a platform for dialogue and consensus among Islamic nations. The statement noted that the meeting addressed the proposed agenda, as well as the key ideas and themes to be included in the final communiqu©, in a manner that serves the shared interests of member states and advances the process of joint Islamic action.

For its part, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) team commended the “diligent efforts made by the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs to fulfill the technical and logistical requirements necessary for the success of the 52nd session.” They expressed appreciation for Iraq’s commitment to organizing an outstanding session at all levels, reflecting its stature and active role within the OIC.
