Baghdad: Forest fires have spread across the southwestern Turkish provinces of Mugla and Antalya, prompting authorities to evacuate homes and relocate residents to safer areas. The swift action was taken as a precautionary measure against the advancing flames, especially given the increasing wind speeds that are fueling the fires.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, local authorities in Mugla province reported that the fires began in an agricultural area and quickly spread to nearby forests. This development led to the deployment of specialized aircraft and helicopters, as well as ground and sea efforts, to contain the situation. Some fires have reached forests overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, adding complexity to the firefighting efforts.

Authorities mentioned the evacuation of a hospital as a precautionary step due to the proximity of the fires. Additionally, a main road connecting Mugla city to Antalya province was closed because of thick smoke and poor visibility. Residents have been urged to avoid the area and adhere to official warnings.

In Antalya province, which neighbors Mugla, firefighting teams are continuing their efforts to control the forest fires. Aircraft are being used extensively due to the challenging terrain and mountain ranges covered in dense forests.
