Baghdad / NINA / The Federal Integrity Commission announced the issuance of a summon order against the former Minister of Culture and undersecretary minister, in addition to the issuance of an arrest warrant against the director of the minister’s office for deliberately committing a violation of their job duties.

The Commission’s Investigation Department confirmed that the judge of the Second Karkh Investigation Court, based on the investigations of the Commission’s Investigation Directorate in Baghdad, a summons order was issued against the former Minister of Culture and an undersecretary, while an arrest warrant was issued against the director of the minister’s office, regarding the ministry’s contracting with a bankrupt Danish company to display the archaeological treasure of Nimrud in European museums, stressing that the contracted company is not discreet and cannot provide the necessary protection for the golden treasure that represents a cultural heritage for Iraq, in addition to the lack of sponsorship by UNESCO for this agreement.

It added that the agreement was concluded during the period because there was no permanent constitution or bylaw that would allow the treasure to be taken out of Iraq, pointing out that there was no role for legal specialists in concluding it, which led to including clauses that are not in the interest of the ministry, pointing out that the minister’s signature on the agreement makes him directly responsible for that.

It explained that the arrest and summon orders were issued by the second Karkh Investigation Court, According to the provisions of Article (331)./End
