Baghdad: Shipping data released on Monday indicated a noticeable decline in maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to rise. On Sunday, only four ships navigated the waters of this crucial shipping route, a significant drop from the eight ships recorded the previous day.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, data from the London Stock Exchange Group revealed that since Friday, at least three oil product tankers and one very large crude carrier (VLCC) entered the strait with the purpose of loading oil. This data encompasses the movements of various types of vessels, including container ships, bulk carriers, vehicle carriers, and tankers transporting oil, gas, and chemicals. The reduction in traffic underscores the potential impact of geopolitical tensions on global shipping routes.
