Baghdad: French exports to Iraq experienced a significant increase during the second quarter of 2026, with the total value rising to $106 million compared to $78 million in the first quarter. This marks a substantial increase of $28 million, or 35.9%.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, data from the International Trade Centre’s trade map highlights that pharmaceutical products spearheaded this growth. The exports of these products escalated from $2.9 million in the first quarter to an impressive $27 million in the second quarter, showcasing an increase of $24.1 million. Additionally, exports of essential oils, resins, perfumes, cosmetics, and personal care products surged from $6.3 million to $14 million, reflecting a rise of $7.7 million.
Other notable categories included cereal, flour, starch, milk, and pastry products, which reached $12 million in the second quarter. Machinery, electrical equipment, and parts recorded $9.9 million, though this was a decrease from $14 million. Exports of machinery and mechanical appliances climbed to $9.8 million from $6.5 million, while optical and medical instruments and measuring devices increased to $9.4 million from $2.6 million.
The data further revealed that exports of dairy products, eggs, honey, and food products of animal origin amounted to $4 million. Beverages, spirits, and vinegar exports reached $3.4 million, while vehicles, their parts, and accessories totaled $3.1 million. Miscellaneous chemical products accounted for $1.8 million in exports.
