Baghdad: The French Foreign Ministry has proposed to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry the organization of a new version of the Baghdad Conference. This proposal was made during a phone call held today between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the call, the French Minister suggested that the conference should be held as soon as possible, in line with recent international developments. The French Minister also discussed the outcomes of his recent visit to Damascus, sharing insights from his meetings with Syrian political and security leaders. In response, Minister Hussein briefed his French counterpart on his recent discussions with the Syrian Foreign Minister.

The conversation between the ministers also touched upon the current situation in Syria. Both ministers emphasized the importance of forming a shared vision aimed at achieving regional stability, highlighting the necessity for a comprehensive peace process that includes all segments of the Syrian population in political dialogues.

Additionally, the call addressed the bilateral relations between Iraq and France, underscoring the need to strengthen ties across various sectors. Minister Hussein extended an invitation to his French counterpart to visit Baghdad, an offer that was warmly welcomed by the French Minister, who assured his acceptance in the near future.
