Gambling Hall Closure and Suspect Arrests in Baghdad


Baghdad: A gambling hall has been shut down and 15 suspects have been arrested by the Baghdad Operations Command. The operation was part of an ongoing security initiative in the city.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Baghdad Operations Command reported that the arrests were made during a search and inspection of hotels, halls, and restaurants. This effort was coordinated with the Directorate of Tourist Security and the Directorate of Residency and Nationality, and was supported by intelligence agencies. The operation was part of the preparations for the Rajab visit, a significant event that necessitates heightened security measures.



The statement from the Baghdad Operations Command revealed that, in addition to the gambling hall closure, 34 individuals were apprehended for violating the terms and conditions set by the Residency and Nationality Department. The suspects, along with seized gambling devices and other tools, have been handed over to the competent authorities for further legal proceedings.



The operations took place in the Karrada and Al-Tawail areas, covering both sides of Karkh and Rusafa, showcasing the extensive reach of the security measures implemented by the command.
