General Authority of Customs Denies Director General’s Suspension Reports


Baghdad: The General Authority of Customs has firmly dismissed claims regarding the suspension of its Director General, Thamer Qasim Dawood. The Authority clarified that recent reports suggesting such a decision are unfounded.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Authority issued a statement asserting that the purported document circulating on social media and certain websites is a forgery. The statement emphasized that these reports are baseless and represent attempts to mislead public opinion and weaken the Authority’s operations and leadership.



The Authority urged media outlets and the public to exercise caution and verify information before dissemination. It stressed the importance of consulting official and accredited sources from within the Authority for accurate information. Additionally, the Authority reserved the right to pursue legal actions against those responsible for spreading false documents and information.



The General Authority of Customs reiterated its commitment to fulfilling its legal and administrative duties, including safeguarding public funds, combating smuggling, and curbing customs violations.
