General Authority of Customs Recovers Over 14 Billion Iraqi Dinars

Baghdad: The General Authority of Customs announced the recovery of more than 14 billion Iraqi dinars. This follows a comprehensive review of exemptions granted to various investment and industrial projects.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Customs Exemptions Follow-up Team successfully reclaimed the amount with direct support and guidance from the Prime Minister. This effort is part of a broader reform plan aimed at regulating exemptions and ensuring they target economically viable projects.

The Authority’s statement detailed that the audit encompassed 24 projects across investment and industrial development sectors in Baghdad and several other provinces. The detected violations have been referred to the judiciary. The Authority emphasized the implementation of stricter measures to enhance transparency and protect public funds.
