Baghdad: The General Directorate of Traffic has firmly reiterated its stance against attempts to undermine its efforts, asserting that the law remains paramount and traffic operations continue uninterrupted around the clock.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Directorate issued a statement highlighting the significant transformation in its operations, marked by improved cooperation and humane treatment. The Directorate emphasized that its commitment to performing its duties 24/7 is unwavering, despite challenges. It condemned actions that prioritize personal interests over the Directorate’s rights and achievements, labeling such actions as deliberate misconduct.

The statement further outlined the Directorate’s adherence to Traffic Law No. 8 of 2019 and existing regulations, emphasizing its dedication to professionalism and the administrative policies of the Ministry of Interior. The Directorate noted ongoing advancements through the adoption of modern technologies to enhance traffic monitoring, violation detection, and operations regulation, thereby increasing accuracy and transparency while minimizing personal interference.

The Directorate also highlighted its role in managing traffic flow, monitoring violations and accidents, and developing solutions. A recent example was the effective management of the Arba’een pilgrimage, which led to a 50% reduction in traffic accidents compared to the previous year. It was noted that incidents last year were significantly lower than in 2024.

The Directorate expressed concern over efforts to exploit positions or titles to interfere with its operations or criticize traffic officers. It warned against misleading the public through social media campaigns aiming to tarnish its image. The Directorate underlined that its officers’ professional rights are protected by law and promised legal action against any incitement or defamation attempts against its employees.
