Najaf: Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani has authorized Sheikh Mahmoud al-Fayyad, son of the late Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Ishaq al-Fayyad, to manage his father’s religious affairs and institutions in Afghanistan. This significant development ensures the continuation of leadership and oversight for the religious seminaries in the country.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the religious authorization provided by Grand Ayatollah Sistani enables Sheikh Mahmoud al-Fayyad to handle matters of religious interest and manage financial aspects related to the Imam’s share and other religious dues. The authorization specifies that Sheikh Mahmoud is to allocate half of the received funds to legitimate religious purposes and return the remaining half to support religious seminaries in Afghanistan.
