Baghdad: A security source announced today that two people were killed in a shooting by unknown gunmen in Al-Uzair district, south of Maysan Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the incident occurred in one of the district’s areas, where the gunmen opened fire on the two victims and fled to an unknown location. Security forces rushed to the scene and imposed a security cordon around the area.

The source added that specialized teams transported the bodies to the forensic medicine department, while security services launched a comprehensive investigation to apprehend the perpetrators and determine the motives for the crime.
