Baghdad: UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres commended the Iraqi government's stance on distancing the country from regional conflicts, emphasizing the international community's support for Baghdad's efforts to consolidate weapons and uphold the rule of law. In a press statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Guterres said that the Iraqi government "has made it unequivocally clear that Iraq cannot allow its territory to be used or drawn into any regional or international conflict," stressing that control over security decisions and the use of force must be exclusively in the hands of the state and its official institutions.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the UN Secretary-General affirmed the support of the international organization and the international community for the Iraqi government's efforts and determination to assert its sovereignty, ensure the country's stability, and avoid the repercussions of regional tensions.
