Jounieh: Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Ali Hamieh, on Wednesday welcomed Jounieh Mayor, Jean Habish, accompanied by relevant engineers from the ministry. The meeting focused on evaluating ongoing work to clean stormwater drainage systems along the Jounieh highway, and the additional measures needed to address critical issues and persistent problems in the area under the ministry’s jurisdiction in preparation for the winter season.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the discussions centered around engineering plans prepared for rehabilitating the stormwater drainage systems and identifying critical points. Minister Hamieh highlighted the establishment of a joint assessment of the flooding issues occurring along the Jounieh highway. The collaboration aims to ensure a thorough review and implementation of necessary improvements to prevent potential flooding during heavy rainfall.
Hamieh also emphasized that the ministry’s work crews are continuously engaged in cleaning and maintaining
drainage systems on highways throughout the year. This ongoing effort is aimed at preempting any unexpected heavy rainfall and ensuring the smooth flow of stormwater, thereby mitigating the risk of flooding along critical traffic routes.
