Haybat al-Halbousi Emphasizes Constitutional Duty and National Responsibility as Speaker of Parliament


Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament Haybat al-Halbousi affirmed that his election as Speaker is a constitutional duty and a grave national responsibility.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a post on the X platform, Al-Halbousi expressed his gratitude to the heads of political parties, parliamentary bloc leaders, and members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives for their confidence in electing him as Speaker of Parliament for the sixth term. He described this role as a constitutional mandate and a significant national responsibility.



He highlighted the importance of this stage, emphasizing the clear duty of representatives to fulfill their legislative and oversight roles. Upholding the constitution, strengthening stability, and prioritizing the interests of Iraq were outlined as key responsibilities for the parliament.



Al-Halbousi assured the people that the Parliament will be worthy of their trust, with the service to the state and its citizens remaining the guiding principle in all decisions made.
