Head of IMN Discusses Strengthening Cooperation and Exchanging Expertise with Azerbaijani Ambassador

Baghdad: The head of the Iraqi Media Network, Abdul Karim Hammadi, met today, Thursday, with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Iraq, Eldar Nadir oglu Salimov, to discuss ways to enhance media cooperation between the two countries and expand the horizons of news, cultural, and sports exchange, contributing to the development of bilateral relations.

According to Iraqi News Agency, this meeting took place at the Iraqi Media Network headquarters, attended by Alan Abdullah, a member of the network’s Board of Trustees. Hammadi highlighted the strong relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq, expressing Iraqi citizens’ interest in learning more about Azerbaijan’s tourism, cultural, and historical attractions.

Hammadi stated that the Iraqi Media Network is open to cooperation with Azerbaijani media outlets to project a positive image and strengthen ties between the two peoples. He emphasized the network’s role in delivering information to Iraqi citizens and introducing them to various destinations, particularly in Azerbaijan.

He further mentioned the exploration of establishing training camps in Azerbaijan for Iraqi athletes and assured the readiness of the Iraqi Media Network to facilitate Azerbaijani media personnel wishing to work in Iraq.

The Azerbaijani ambassador, Eldar Nadir oglu Salimov, explained that Azertag is Azerbaijan’s official news agency and a counterpart to the Iraqi News Agency. He noted the shared desire to sign a media cooperation agreement, which has been under discussion in previous years.

Salimov underscored the importance of increasing news exchange between Iraq and Azerbaijan and strengthening cooperation between media institutions in both countries. He asserted that this would provide a more comprehensive picture of developments and events in both nations.
