Health Minister Engages with WHO Team on Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control


Baghdad: Minister of Health Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi received the team from the World Health Organization Regional Office’s Program for the Control of Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control, led by Hala Amer, Director of the Infection Control and Antimicrobial Resistance Control Program.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry stated that the infection control program is designed to support national regulators in monitoring antibiotic consumption. The program plays a crucial role in ensuring that the use of antibiotics is effectively managed, which is vital for addressing antimicrobial resistance.



The minister emphasized the significance of the infection control and antimicrobial resistance control program, highlighting its prioritization within the ministry’s agenda. He directed the provision of necessary facilities for the WHO team and called for a meeting with relevant ministry officials to collaborate in collecting data from manufacturers, importers, and distributors at the national level.
