Baghdad: The Ministry of Health announced the seizure of a fake pharmacy in Baghdad found in possession of government-issued medications and illegally smuggled psychotropic substances.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry revealed that a team from the Inspection and Complaints Department of the Baghdad/Rusafa Health Directorate, along with the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and the Pharmacists Syndicate, conducted a joint operation to raid the fake pharmacy located in the Umm al-Kubra and al-Ghazlan area. The operation uncovered 191 psychotropic medications, 52 medications illegally smuggled from Ministry of Health institutions, and 2,593 other non-compliant medications.

The owner of the pharmacy has been referred to the relevant authorities, and the establishment has been closed while legal procedures are completed. The Ministry emphasized that inspection campaigns will persist in efforts to combat the illicit trade in medications, aiming to ensure that citizens have access to safe medicine.
