Beirut: Hezbollah has accused Israel of setting fire to forested areas in southern Lebanon and the Western Bekaa Valley, turning vast areas into scorched and uninhabitable land. The group claims that these actions by Israel amount to a different kind of genocide in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hezbollah issued a statement through its media relations office, asserting that the fires constitute environmental genocide. The statement highlights the destruction of urban infrastructure and the uprooting of ancient olive trees, pointing out that Lebanese authorities are unable to file complaints or take international action against Israel. This inability, Hezbollah argues, continues the cycle of destruction in the area.

Hezbollah also criticized the Lebanese government for its performance, accusing it of making concessions in negotiations and relinquishing Lebanon's fundamental rights. The group claims these actions have granted Israel a sense of impunity. Hezbollah called on the government, the Ministry of Environment, and relevant authorities to take immediate action to stop what it describes as Israeli aggression, which they say now targets the environment after targeting people and infrastructure.
