Baghdad: The Head of the High Security Committee for the Elections, Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadawi, announced the successful implementation of the security plan for the recent parliamentary elections. In a press conference with key figures from the army, police, and security agencies, as well as the head of the Independent High Electoral Commission, al-Muhammadawi reported the safe arrival of ballot boxes and papers at designated warehouses by 8:30 AM, transported securely by both land and air under the watchful guard of security forces.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Muhammadawi confirmed that the election period witnessed no security breaches in Baghdad or other governorates, with only minor electoral violations reported. International organizations and media commended the seamless execution of the security measures, which avoided the need for curfews or road closures. Furthermore, security forces maintained a professional distance from polling stations, ensuring they did not influence voter decisions.

The lieutenant general highlighted that the security plan was deemed the most effective among previous ones, largely due to the combined efforts of security forces, supporting agencies, and the cooperation of citizens, who played a vital role in assisting security personnel and the electoral commission. He also acknowledged the contribution of local media in portraying a positive image of the elections, reflecting Iraq’s stability and the strong collaboration between its armed forces and citizens.

Al-Muhammadawi underscored the behind-the-scenes work of security and intelligence services, whose diligent information gathering and response efforts were pivotal to the plan’s success. He expressed optimism about future technological advancements further enhancing these efforts.

Finally, al-Muhammadawi refuted claims of ISIS presence in Wadi Houran or any other regions across Iraq, reinforcing the country’s continuous efforts in maintaining national security.
